Snow Removal Newmarket

Snow Removal Newmarket: Stonehaven, Glenway, Summerhill and Old Town

Residential driveway plowing, walkway and step clearing, windrow removal and salting, plus commercial lot clearing across Newmarket.

Plowed residential driveway after a snowfall in Newmarket

Newmarket sits at the north end of our York Region routes, and its winters feel it. Snow that turns to rain in Toronto often stays snow along Davis Drive and Mulock Drive, and the open land around the Highway 404 corridor lets wind push drifts back across driveways an hour after they are cleared. Green Crest Landscaping plans Newmarket as its own route rather than an add-on to Richmond Hill, so homes and businesses here are not waiting at the end of a long list.

We work out of Richmond Hill and cover Newmarket for residential driveways, walkways and steps, windrows, salting, and commercial lots for plazas, offices and small industrial units. Every plan starts with a written quote based on your address and a photo, so you know exactly what is included before the first snowfall.

What Newmarket snow removal includes

  • Driveway plowing for single, double and wide driveways, including the apron where the driveway meets the road.
  • Walkways, steps and porches cleared by hand so the path from the driveway to your door is safe.
  • Windrow clearing after the town plow passes and leaves a ridge of packed snow across the end of the driveway.
  • Salting of walkways, steps and driveways, agreed in your quote as automatic or on request.
  • Commercial lots: drive aisles, parking stalls, entrances, sidewalks and loading areas. See commercial snow removal.

Newmarket neighbourhoods we cover

Newmarket’s housing changes a lot from one side of Yonge Street to the other, and snow clearing changes with it. Here is how we approach the main parts of town.

Old Town and Main Street South

Newmarket’s historic core has older homes on narrower lots, with single driveways, front steps close to the sidewalk and very little room to pile snow. Many driveways are shared or run beside the house to a detached garage at the back. These properties need careful hand clearing around steps and porches and a plan for where the snow goes, because pushing it onto the neighbour’s side or back onto the sidewalk is not an option.

Stonehaven and Wyndham Village

Larger detached homes with double and triple driveways and attached garages. Snow storage is usually easy on the lawn, but wide driveways take longer to clear and the windrow left by the town plow on these crescents can be heavy. Most Stonehaven customers ask for windrow clearing and salting on the walkway.

Glenway Estates and Summerhill Estates

Established family neighbourhoods with mature trees, curved crescents and double driveways. Interlock walkways and front steps are common, so we agree on ice control that suits the surface. See our guide to rock salt versus de-icers on concrete and interlock.

Woodland Hill and Copper Hills

Newer subdivisions in the north and west of town, with a mix of detached homes, semis and freehold townhomes. Townhome driveways are short and close together, which leaves little space between neighbours for snow. We stack snow on your own side, keep it off the sidewalk and clear the walkway by hand. Our guide on snow removal for townhouses and laneway homes explains what to expect.

Armitage, Bristol-London and Huron Heights

Mid-century and later homes on established streets, many with single or double driveways, carports and front steps. Older asphalt can be uneven, so we mark edges and raised spots before the ground freezes to avoid damage under snow.

Davis Drive, Yonge Street and the business areas

Plazas, medical offices, retail and small industrial units along Davis Drive, Yonge Street, Mulock Drive and near Highway 404. These sites need entrances, sidewalks and accessible parking open before staff and customers arrive. Commercial routes run separately from residential driveways.

Why Newmarket driveways need a plan

Three things make Newmarket winters harder than the southern part of the region. First, storms often bring more snow here, and the wet, heavy kind that packs into ice once cars drive over it. Second, wind across open fields and the 404 corridor moves snow back onto cleared driveways, especially on the edges of town. Third, the windrow: the town clears main roads first, then residential streets, so the ridge of hard snow at the end of your driveway often arrives after you thought you were done.

A seasonal plan booked in the fall puts your address on the route before the first storm. You do not need to call during a snowfall, and you know what is included: the driveway, the walkway, the windrow and salting, as written in your quote. Read when to book snow removal for timing.

How Newmarket service works

  1. Send your address and a photo of the driveway, walkway and steps by WhatsApp or text.
  2. Get a written quote that lists the areas included, windrow clearing and salting.
  3. Mark the property: edges, curbs, garden beds and anything that could be hit under snow. See how to mark a driveway with snow stakes.
  4. Storm service on our Newmarket route, with commercial sites and residential driveways run separately.
  5. Return visits for windrows, long storms and ice control, as agreed in your plan.

Residential snow removal in Newmarket

Most Newmarket homeowners book us for the same reason: they need to leave for work, school or a shift and cannot spend an hour shovelling heavy snow first. A typical residential visit covers the driveway from the garage to the road, the apron, the walkway to the front door and the front steps. Side paths to a back door or gate can be added. If you park on the driveway overnight, tell us, because cars change how the driveway is plowed and what is cleared by hand.

We also clear for seniors and people who should not be shovelling. If that is you or a parent, mention it in your message so we can plan the walkway and steps first. Our guide to safer snow shovelling covers what to do between visits.

Commercial snow removal in Newmarket

Newmarket’s business areas start early. Medical offices near Davis Drive, retail plazas on Yonge Street and Mulock Drive, and industrial units off Harry Walker Parkway and Mulock all need parking, entrances and sidewalks open before the day begins. Commercial routes prioritize entrances, accessible parking, fire routes and loading areas, then the rest of the lot. Property managers with sites in Aurora, Richmond Hill or Markham can plan them together with Newmarket. The commercial snow removal checklist for property managers lists what to confirm before winter.

What affects your Newmarket quote

  • Driveway size and shape: single, double, triple, long or curved.
  • Walkways and steps: how many, how long and whether there is a side path.
  • Windrow clearing: included or not.
  • Salting: automatic with every visit or on request, and the surface type.
  • Slope and access: sloped driveways, tight turns and shared driveways.
  • Commercial scope: lot size, entrances, sidewalks and loading areas.

Our guide to snow removal cost factors in York Region explains each one. You always get a written quote before any work starts.

Before winter: fall cleanup in Newmarket

Glenway, Summerhill and Old Town have large maple and oak trees, and leaves left on the lawn under snow can lead to snow mould in spring. Many Newmarket customers book a fall cleanup or leaf cleanup before snow season, and we mark the driveway at the same visit. See how to prevent snow mould on an Ontario lawn.
