Short answer: Most York Region yards need one to three leaf cleanups each fall. One visit suits yards with a few young trees. Two visits suit most lots with mature maples. Three suit properties backing onto ravines or woodlots, or with large oaks that drop late.
What decides the number of visits
- Tree count and size. One mature silver maple can cover a whole front lawn.
- Tree species. Maples drop early and fast. Oaks hold their leaves into late November.
- Neighbouring trees. Wind brings leaves from the street and the lots next door.
- Lawn health. A lawn already struggling cannot handle weeks under leaves.
- Weather. Wet weeks mat the leaves faster.
Typical schedules
One cleanup
Booked in the first half of November once most leaves are down. Works for newer subdivisions in Cornell, Berczy Village or Vellore Village where street trees are still young.
Two cleanups
The first at the peak of the drop in late October or early November, the second in late November after the oaks. This is the most common plan for established streets in Markham Village, Unionville, Richmond Hill and Woodbridge.
Three cleanups
For heavy-tree lots in Oak Ridges, Kleinburg, Aurora and Newmarket, where wooded backyards keep producing leaves for six weeks.
What to avoid
- Booking one visit too early and leaving the late drop on the lawn all winter.
- Booking too late, after snow has already covered wet leaves.

Questions homeowners ask
Can you just come once at the very end?
Yes, but if the lawn sat under a thick layer for weeks, some damage may already be done.
Do I pay for each visit?
Each visit is quoted, and multi-visit plans are quoted together in writing.
Do neighbours’ trees count?
Yes. Leaves that land in your yard are part of the cleanup.
